HISTORY OF CAVITE CHRISTIAN SCHOOL

Cavite Christian School is the brainchild of Rev. Jesus Camacho. It started in 1981 as a Kindergarten school to cater to the needs of a growing community in Bacoor, Cavite. On its first year of operations, the school utilized the IEMELIF Church in Aniban. The pioneer mentors, headed by Dr. Normita B. Gorospe, were Mr. Ireneo Banta Jr., Ms. Flor Garcia, Mrs. Rebecca Gorospe, Mrs. Noemi Bernardo, Mrs. Elizabeth Peñalosa, Mrs. Loida Rivera, Mrs. Miriam Manuel, and Atty. Bayani Bernardo.

After six years of existence in 1987, the elementary department was opened due to the emerging need for more elementary schools.

In the succeeding years, Mrs. Bing Ocampo, Mrs. Anna Lilibeth Lamparero, Mrs. Partoza, Mrs. Miriam Manuel, Miss Pricilla Manuel, and Dr. Normita B. Gorospe became the school’s principals.

Through the encouragement of the school’s officials and the Board of Trustees, a building was built at F. & E. De Castro Village as a branch due to the increase in enrollment. It was because of the initiative of Atty. Bayani Bernardo and Mrs. Levita Bernardo that the school was situated on the 5000-square-meter lot to home the growing population of the school in 1989.

Through the leadership and encouragement of the incumbent principal and the Board of Trustees, another 1000-square-meter lot, which was adjacent to the present school site of the preschool and elementary departments, was acquired in 1999.

During school year 1999-2000, notable improvements in school facilities were made to accommodate the needs of the new DECS curriculum. Remedial classes were introduced; faculty in-service trainings were conducted; and student discipline was cultivated.

Realizing the need of the school’s elementary graduates, the officials considered opening the high school department.

It was in 2004 when the high school department was opened, with 12 second year students and 56 first year students. Mrs. Milagros A. Guevarra was appointed to succeed Dr. Normita B. Gorospe, who then became the chairperson of the CCS Board of Trustees. Engr. Ricardo Benitez then succeeded her as BOT chairperson for two consecutive years.

Due to the demand of the time and the rise of information technology, the principal, with the help of the BOT, envisioned and implemented vast changes for the betterment of the school. Some of these changes included development and utilization of resources, standardization of teaching, and revitalization of sports and cultural programs.

In 2008, Atty. Bernard B. Gorospe took over the position of BOT chairman, succeeding Engr. Benitez who decided to settle abroad. This was the time when marketing innovations were implemented to increase the enrollment rate and facilitate more meaningful learning-teaching processes by sending teachers to attend seminars and students to participate in different competitions inside and outside of the school.

With the need to create more innovations at CCS, new activities and programs, improved facilities, and relevant teachers’ trainings were introduced in order to produce graduates who are versatile, productive, and morally upright.

In 2010, upon the retirement of Mrs. Guevarra, Miss Annielyn G. Gorospe took over the principalship. With her leadership and the unwavering support of the BOT, the school’s dream of providing excellent, relevant, and holistic education, and producing well-equipped and God-fearing members of society is gradually coming true.

From 2010 to present, several facilities have been continuously improved and added. Among those that were added are the fixed LED TVs in high school classrooms, the covered basketball court, and the newly refurbished Learning Resource Center. Under the leadership of the very dynamic and competent Ms. Gorospe, CCS has continued to participate in inter-school competitions while constantly providing holistic education to its students. The school has become known for excellence in academics, scouting, and performing arts, and has been considered at par with big schools within the area.

CCS is now honing its students in the field of sports, conducting various trainings and clinics in volleyball and basketball. The school also continues to improve its information system by upgrading the registration and enrollment process which will be available in the coming years.
